GIS stands for Geographic Information System. GIS is defined as a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographical data that are referenced to locations on earth.

The 2 data types that GIS collect are spatial data and attribute data.

Spatial data refers to the geography or location on earth while attribute data refers to the tabular data that gives out additional information about the spatial features of the data.

Example:
Spatial data = actual location of the school
Attribute data = 1) Name of the school 2) Student capacity of the school
