You have the following expression:

-10 - (5 - 9)²

In order to simplify the previous expression you proceed as follow:

- 10 - (5 - 9)² simplify terms inside parenthesis

= -10 - (-4)² solve the parenthesis

= -10 - 16 simplify

= -26

Hence, the simplified expression is -26.
