Kent and jodi both found the sum of two 4-digit numbers, but their results were not the same. if kent made an error of addition by one in the hundreds column and jodi's result was correct, what was the difference between the larger result and the smaller result?

Answer:

Difference Between the Larger result and smaller result = 100

Explanation:

Given: Kent & Jodi both found sum of 4 digit nos.

Kent made error of adding by 1 in hundreds column

Jodi's result was correct.

To find: Difference between larger result and smaller result.

Since, Kent made adding 1 extra in hundreds column.

So, her answer is greater.

Jodi's answer is correct but it is smaller than Kent's.

Since we know Kent added 1 extra in hundreds column.

So, when we find difference between Kent's result and Jodi's result we get 0 in all columns except hundred's where we get 1.

This implies There is difference of 100 from larger result to smaller result.

To understand, Lets The numbers be 1234 and 5678

Result that Kent get = 1234 +5678 = 7012 ( correct ans = 6912 but she add 1 extra in hundreds place )

Result that Jodi get = 1234 + 5678 = 6912

Difference = 7012 - 6912 = 100
