The digits of the number 541,309 have the following place value:

starting from the right,

9- units
0- tens
3-hundreds
1-thousands
4-ten thousands
5-hundred thousands

switching the hundred thousand and tens place means forming the numbers:

041,359 that is 41,359

i)
First thing we notice is that the new number is a 5 digit number.

So the number of digits decreases.

ii)
541,309-41,359=499,950

so the value of the old number is 499,950 more than the new one

iii) 541,309/41,359≈13

so, the old number is approximately 13 times greater than the new one.

Answer:

i) the number of digits decreases from 6 to 5

ii) the value of the old number is 499,950 more than the new one

iii) the old number is approximately 13 times greater than the new one
