Why can evaporation be used to separate a mixture? Check all that apply.

A: One or more components has a lower boiling point than the desired component.

B: The desired component has a different density than the other components.

C: The mixture is a solution that contains a substance that will crystallize out.

D: The desired component has the smallest particles in the mixture.

E: The desired component has a higher boiling point than the other components.

F: Heat causes some of the components to change into a gas.

F because this is good for separating a liquid from a solution. For example, water can be separated from salty water by simple distillation. This method works because the water evaporates from the solution, but is then cooled and condensed into a separate container. The salt does not evaporate and so it stays behind.
