Find the work done by a force of 4 pounds acting in the direction of 41° to the horizontal in moving an object 5 feet from (0, 0) to (5, 0).

W=Fd Work=Force times distance, but the object only moves in the horizontal direction so only the component force acting horizontally does work in this example

W=(Fcosα°)*d N*m

W=(4cos41°)*5 N*m

W=20cos41° N*m

W=15.1 J (to nearest tenth of a joule)
