Answer:

x=(-√(5)+3)/(2) and
x=(√(5)+3)/(2)

Explanation:

4x^2-12x+9=5

To solve for x we need to make right hand side 0

Subtract 5 on both sides

4x^2-12x+4=0

Divide whole equation by 4

x^2-3x+1=0

Apply quadratic formula to solve for x

x=(-b+-√(b^2-4ac))/(2a)

the value of a=1, b=-3 and c=1

x=(-(-3)+-√((-3)^2-4(1)(1)))/(2(1))

x=(3+-√(5))/(2)

x=(-√(5)+3)/(2) and
x=(√(5)+3)/(2)

4x^2-12x+9=5\\4x^2-12x+9-5=0\\4x^2-12x+4=0 \ \ \ |:4\\x^2-3x+1=0 \\ \\ x= \cfrac{3б √((-3)^2-4) }{2}= \cfrac{3б √(9-4) }{2}= \cfrac{3б √(5) }{2}

Correct answers are C and E
