Adword calculates the ad rank using your bid amount, components of quality score and THE EXPECTED IMPACT OF EXTENSIONS AND OTHER AD FORMATS.
The expected impact of extension is used to determine whether the ad will show at all and the ad position in case the ad is eligible to show.
