a + b = 142
a = b - 16
b - 16 + b = 142
2b - 16 = 142
2b = 142 + 16
2b = 158
b = 158/2
b = 79....team B scored 79 points
a = b - 16
a = 79 - 16
a = 63 <==== team A scored 63 points
