Based on the listed characteristics of life, viruses basically do not meet the criteria to be considered a living creature. This is because they are not made up of cells which is the basic unit of life. In terms of reproduction, viruses are not capable to replicate because they need to infect a host cell in order to accomplish this process. They do not have metabolism to carry out life processes. They also are not capable of carrying out homeostasis. Viruses are not also capable of responding to stimuli. They also are not capable of growing and developing. Generally, viruses are dependent to their host cell.
On the other hand, viruses somehow are capable of undergoing evolution.
