Your friend is incorrect.
You should always count 0's when deciding where to place the decimal point. To disprove your friend, you could divide 1.2 by 8 and see that it doesnt equal 1.5. Also, 8 is multiplied by a value that is more than one, so the result should be higher than 8.

Good luck with your assignment!

Answer:

No, he is incorrect.

Explanation:

Given : Your friend thinks that
1.5* 8=1.20 because you do not count the zero when placing the decimal point.

To find : Is your friend correct justify your reasoning ?

Solution :

Your friend is incorrect.

As we should always count 0's when deciding where to place the decimal point.

Multiplying 1.5 by 8 is

1.5 - 1 decimal place

× 8 - 0 decimal place

--------

12.0 - 1 total decimal place

So, Friend calculation is not correct as well as explanation.

The correct answer is
1.5* 8=12.0
