The variance of a sample of 81 observations equals 64. the standard deviation of the sample equals:

Let the Variance be denoted by v and the Standard deviation be s.

The Standard deviation is the square root of the Variance of a set of data,

so
s= √(v),

thus the Standard deviation when the variance v=84 is


s= √(v)=√(64)=8,


Answer: 8
