= (x - 2(x + y)

We are given with 4 terms. so use grouping method for factoring. To factor the given expression we take out GCF


x^2- 2x +xy - 2y

we group first two terms and last two terms

then take out GCF from each group


x(x-2) +y(x-2)

Now take out common factor x-2


(x- 2)(x+y)
