The nurse should tell the parent that they have a 25% chance that their next child will have cystic fibrosis.
Cytic fibrosis is a hereditary medical condition of the exocrine glands in which the glands produce abnormally thick mucus that blocks the pancreatic duct, the intestines and the bronchi. It normally results in respiratory infection.
