An easy way to do this is find the absolute value of both numbers and add them together which will yield your range. The absolute value of a number is the amount of whole numbers away it is from 0. 20 is 20 away from 0, and -25 is 25 away from 0. Now we just add 25 and 20, which equals 45. Therefore, this temperature changed by 45 degrees.

Answer:

45^(\circ)

Explanation:

Given :One winter day, the temperature ranged from a high of 20 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

To Find :By how many degrees did the temperature change

Solution :

Initial temperature = 20°

Final temperature = -25°

Change in temperature =
20^(\circ)-(-25}^(\circ))

=
45^(\circ)

Hence the temperature change by
45^(\circ)
