5 less than three times a number is 10

To find the algebraic expression, simply break the sentence into fragments.

Three times a number - 3x
5 less than three times a number is 5 - 3x.

This equals to 10.

5 - 3x = 10
-3x = 5
X = -5/3.

I believe this would be the solution.
