To solve this problem, let us first assign some variables. Let us say that:

x = amount of large stuffed animals sold

y = amount of small stuffed animals sold

a = price of large stuffed animals

b = price of small stuffed animals

Therefore the equation of the total earning is:

Total earning = a x + b y

We know that:

Total earning = $65

a = $9

b = $4

Therefore:

65 = 9 x + 4 y

It was also stated that equal amount of x and y are sold, therefore:

x = y

Hence,

65 = 9 x + 4 x

65 = 13 x

x = 5

and y = 5

To complete the sentence:

Tory sold 5 small stuffed animals and 5 large stuffed animals.
