The nurse would recommend this type of bath after an epideotomy during birth. This is an incision from the bottom of the vaginal opening towards the anus to allow more room for the infant to pass. A warm sitz bath is soothing, and an atheistic way to cleanse the wound while healing and before removal of stiches.
