Thomas is 8 because if you divide 24 divided by 3 you get 8 . And if Ty's three times his age and you added their ages you'd get 24 because 8 times 3 is 24. And Ty's age is 16

So Thomas will be represented as x. So x+3x=24. This gives you 4x=24. Therefore if x now equals 6, then Ty is 18 and Thomas 6.
