Finding the slope and line equation

We set the pair of points:

( x₁, y₁ ) = ( 2, 1 )

( x₂, y₂ ) = ( -3, 1)

Slope

Since the slope equation is given by:


m=(\Delta y)/(\Delta x)=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_{2_{}}-x_1}

Replacing it:


\begin{gathered} m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_{2_{}}-x_1} \\ =(1-1)/(-3-2) \\ =-(0)/(5) \\ =0 \end{gathered}

Then m = 0

Line equation

Since the line equation is given by:

y = mx +b where m is its slope and b is the intercept with y-axis

Since m = 0 it is an horizontal line (constant function), then y = 1 for every value of x

Then it intercepts y-axis at y = 1. Then b = 1

Then, line, equation is y = 1
