It is estimated that 7% of people in the United States have diabetes. A certain screening test is 74.7% accurate for people who do have diabetes, and 78% accurate for people who do not have diabetes.

At a health fair the screening test is used to test 300 people. Predict how many of the people will be identified as having diabetes.

Answer: There are 16 people who will be identified as having diabetes.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Percentage of people in the US have diabetes = 7%

Percentage of people having screening test accurate who do have diabetes = 74.7%

Percentage of people who do not have diabetes = 78%

Number of people used for screening test = 300

So, Number of people who will be identified as having diabetes is given by

300* 0.07* 0.747\\\\=15.6\\\\\approx 16

Hence, there are 16 people who will be identified as having diabetes.
