How is a topic different from a theme?

A: It must take place in a larger literary conversation.
B: It is written in a full paragraph form, with citations.
C: It states a life lesson, while the theme does not.
D: It does not state a life lesson, whereas a theme does.

I think it's C or D but I'm not sure.

Forgive me, I don't feel like saying hello or being very optimistic right now)
I hate going through the niceties, but your answer is D. Theme is the central idea(life lesson) while topic is just the subject of the paragraph.
