Why was it important for Chinese to respect there elders​

so, it seems many people do believe that if you try to do that, you are crazy. but quite on the contrary, l don't think it's against chineses cluture when you explain to someone who is much older than you that respect needs to be earned, or that you are not going to respect them simply because of their age

sure, chineses culture values a kind of social hirerachy which lagely depends on social experience, one factor that is often ilustrated by ''age and young chinese are taught to respect anyone that stands one step or stepts highter than them untill they themselves have matured into their predecessor's places. hence the dogma of respeing your teacher your parents as well as older people.
