The oceanic crust has three layers: layer one, layer two and layer three. The first layer consists of non stratified or semi - stratified sediments. It consists of land sediments. The second layer is divided into two parts - topmost volcanic layer and finely crystallized basalt. The layer is thin in the ocean but gradually increases its width away from the crest. The third layer consists of granulated gabbros and igneous rocks that have low content of silica rocks. Continental crust contains different kinds of granite. Most of the rocks in the crust are silicate and aluminum components that can go about a thickness of 70 kilometers.
