To divide fractions invert the divisor and multiply so here we have:-
2x - 1 x^2 + x
------ * ----------
x + 1 3x^2
= 2x - 1 * x(x + 1)
------- ----------
x + 1 3x^2
= x(2x - 1) / 3x^2 = (2x - 1) / 3x
