Answer;

D. A warm and humid day with a wind moving in the same direction as the sound

Explanation;

  • Sound is a type of mechanical wave which requires a material medium for transmission. The transmission of such waves occurs as a result of vibration of particles in the material medium. The faster the vibration of the particles the higher the speed of the sound waves.
  • In a warm and humid day the speed of the sound is high as the particles of air are vibrating more and thus enhancing faster transmission of sound waves. Presence of wind moving in the same direction as the sound increases the velocity of sound as the air particles are propelled to move more faster and so is the sound.
