Suppose that 20 pints of a 20% alcohol solution is mixed with 4 pints of a 50% alcohol solution. What is the concentration of alcohol in the new 24 pint mixture?

Calculate alcohol and liquid:

Alcohol = 20/100*20 + 50/100*4= 6 pints of *alcohol*

Liquid: 24 pints

Concentration = alcohol / liquid = 6/24 = 1/4 or 25%
