Why did the french invaded italy in 1494 how did this trigger italy's political decline?

France wanted to expand their territory in Italy and they see Naples as a good ground to become a base for their Crusaders to fight the Ottoman Turks. This was under the command of Charles VIII. This created a series of wars known as Great Italian Wars also known as Renaissance Wars.
