5+.09m=11.93 subtract 5 from both sides
.09m=6.93 divide both sides by .09
m=77
So he was billed for 77 minutes.

5 + 0.09m = 11.93
0.09m = 11.93 - 5
0.09m = 6.93
m = 6.93 / 0.09
m = 77....Brian was billed for 77 minutes
