When the Senior class decided to order T-shirts, they were quoted a price of $7.50 per shirt plus a setup fee. The total cost for 300 shirts was $2,450. Write an equation in the form y = mx + b that represents the cost, y, for x shirts.

7.5s+f=c we are told that c=2450 when s=300 so

7.5(300)+f=2450

2250+f=2450

f=200

So the y-intercept is 200 and our slope is 7.5 so:

y=7.5x+200

y=7.5x+200 because if you multiply 7.5 and 30 you get 2250 where you can see 200 is the setup fee. You can then plug it into an equation.
