We would apply one of Newton's formula for calculating motion which is expressed as

v^2 = u^2 + 2gh

where

v is the final velocity

u is the initial velocity

g is the acceleration due to gravity

h is the height

From the information given,

u = 11.57

v = 0

g = - 9.8 m/s^2

Thus,

0^2 = 11.57^2 - 2 x 9.8 x h

0 = 133.8649 - 19.6h

19.6h = 133.8649

h = 133.8649/19.6

h = 6.83m

The rock will rise 6.83 m
