1/3(9a+b) - 1/2(4a+2b) = (1/3)(9a+b) - (1/2)(4a+2b)
= (1/3).9a + (1/3)b - [(1/2).4a + (1/2).2b]
= 3a + b/3 - 2a - b
= a + (1/3 - 1)b
= a - (2/3)b
