Answer:

The height of the cylinder shaped can = 8.17 inches

Explanation:

Volume of the cylinder shaped can = 1 gallon

1 gallon = 231 cubic inches

So, Volume of the cylinder shaped can = 231 cubic inches

Radius of the can = 3 inches

\text{Now, Volume of the cylinder = }\pi* radius^2* height\\\\\implies 231=3.14* 3^2* height\\\\\implies height=(231)/(3.14* 9)\\\\\implies height\approx 8.17\text{ inchjes}

Hence, The height of the cylinder shaped can = 8.17 inches

We know that the volume is: V = 1 gallon = 231 in³
Also : r = 3 in.
The volume of a cylinder: V = r² π h
231 = 3³ · 3.14 · h
231 = 9 · 3.14 · h
231 = 28.26 h
h = 231 : 28.26
h = 8.17 ≈ 8 in
Answer: C) 8 in.
