D. Binary fission
Binary fission is a process undergone usually by prokaryotic organisms, and it is a form of asexual reproduction. During binary fission, the organism replicates its DNA plasmids, which are circular structures containing genetic information. Next, the cell elongates and then divides into two cells, each possessing one of the plasmids. This way, two identical daughter cells are formed from the original parent organism.
