Do the ratios 1/12 and 8/96 form a proportion? Explain.

The following is a type of proportion ==> a : b = c : d; and in this case we have:
1 : 12 = 8 : 96
It's not all that hard, all you need to know is the ''cross-multiplication'' methods for testing this kind of stuff.

1 : 12 = 8 : 96 ?
1 * 96 = 12 * 8 ?
96 = 96 ?
96 = 96 ==> CORRECT

1/12 = 8/96
cross multiply
(1)(96) = (8)(12)
96 = 96

yes, this is a true proportion...keep in mind, proportions are nothing but equivalent fractions
