How do I solve for X for questions # 6 and #8?-example-1

I don't know about number 6, but for number 8, you need to factor the numbers.
(x + 3) (x - 3)
x^2 -3x + 3x -9 > 0
Set as equal to, then solve for the value of x.
You would get: -3 > x > 3
