There are three expenses of the federal government which covers almost 80% of the money given to the government. The taxes paid to the government will be used in the following:

a. Social Security

The government is spending around 24% of their money. In here includes the retirement benefits, benefits for those surviving children and spouses of deceased worker, those disabled workers and their dependents.

b. Defense

Around 16% of the money is spent in the defense department. This focuses on the security-related international activities and defense of the country.

c. Medicare

Another focus of the government is the health of the people. They allocated money for the hospital and other medical facilities. This covers around 25% of the money.

d. Safety net programs

In this allocation, the government is providing around 10% of the money for those family who are facing hardships.
