Brutus may have seemed like a betrayer because he killed Caesar. However, Brutus betrayed Caesar to stay loyal to the people of rome.

This is a really interesting question!  I think that both perspectives are reasonable.  Brutus could be considered a patriot because he did what he thought was best for Roman citizens: Caesar was taking too much power.
