Consider the quadratic equation x2+5x+11=0. What is the discriminant of the quadratic equation?

The discriminant of a quadratic equation
a{x}^(2) +bx+c=0 is given by
{b}^(2)-4ac.
Plugging in, we get
{(1)}^(2) -4(5)(11)=1-220=\boxed{-219}.
...Trivial plugging in; really no thought required. I don't like seeing questions like these in math class.
