The correct answer is C. Though slowed, the population continues to rise.

Even though China has been regulating the number of children in the families with the purpose to stop the growth of the population, the population has been still growing, with a much slower rate but it has been growing. This is due to few factors:

- The regulations didn't really worked well in the countrysides where people continued to have more than one child.

- There's a big unregistered population in China that over the years is registered little by little and it adds to the total number of population.

- The life expectancy and living conditions are significantly improved so people live longer than before.
