8^2 + x^2 = 10^2
64 + x^2 = 100
x^2 = 36
x = 6

By the Pythagorean Theorem, the hypotenuse of a right triangle squared is equal to the sum of the sides squared...

10^2=y^2+8^2

y^2=100-64

y^2=36

y=√36

y=6
