-2 = 3/5x+1
=> -3=3/5x
=> Set up proportion! \frac{-3}{1} = \frac{3x}{5}
=> Cross Multiply... -15=3x
=> x=-5

-2 = 3/5x + 1
-2 - 1 = 3/5x
-3 = 3/5x
x = (-3) (5/3)
x = - 5
