People who tend to abuse drugs or a high risk of suicide because the reason for that use of substance. It is usually an underlying issue and they turn to drugs to deal with it instead of finding a better way such as can fighting in a counselor and or a close family or friend. When dealing with such issues in that way you are only staving off those feelings and not really dealing with the issue at hand putting you at higher risk for suicide

Usually drug users who take depressant drugs such as alcohol and benzos are the most at risk because they limit brain activity putting the person in a lazy, depressive state. Most stimulants are psychoactive drugs that increase brain stimulation generally forcing it to generate more hormones including the ones that produce happiness.
