It describes characters' difficult daily lives in great detail. If it were a romantic story, it would not acknowledge everyday struggles.

The realism style is a literary form where the author describes the people actions and feelings as well as the scenario the closest to reality. In this chapter is described in great detail all the issues that Huck is having with his Pap, he is an alcoholic and that bring them lot of troubles, Huck, The Judge and Widow Douglas wants to obtain the custody of the kid, but another judge refuses to separate the kid from his father.
