Given:

The composite figure consists of a rectangle and a semi-circle

The area of the figure = area of the rectangle - area of the semi-circle

The area of the rectangle:

Length = 9 cm

Width = 3 cm

Area = length x width = 9 x 3 = 27 cm²

Area of the semi-circle:

Radius = 3/2 cm

Area =

(1)/(2)\cdot\pi\cdot r^2=(1)/(2)\cdot3.14\cdot((3)/(2))^2=3.5325\operatorname{cm}^2

So, the area of the figure =

27-3.5325=23.4675

Rounding to the nearest half unit

So, the answer will be the area = 23.5 cm²
