the range is ur f(x) values and ur domain is ur x values.

f(x) = 4x - 9...when domain (x) is -3
f(-3) = 4(-3) - 9
f(-3) = -12 - 9
f(-3) = - 21

f(x) = 4x - 9...when domain (x) = 0
f(0) = 4(0) - 9
f(0) = -9

f(x) = 4x - 9...when domain (x) is 5
f(5) = 4(5) - 9
f(5) = 20 - 9
f(5) = 11

so ur range is { -21,-9,11} <==
