Intramuscular injections are administered into the VASTUS LATERALIS. Vastus lateralis muscle is located on the side of the thigh; the muscle is the largest of the group of muscles called quadriceps. Administering injection on this site in infants drastically lowers the risks of damaging important structures in infants.
