The square patio is made up of 10,000 smaller squares. It means 10,000 units squares.

Since we have that the area of a square is the multiplication of both sides (they have the same measure), then:


10000=a\cdot a\Rightarrow a^2=10000\Rightarrow a=\sqrt[]{10000}\Rightarrow a=100

Then, we have 100 smaller squares along a side of the patio:
