Birth controls are a good way to prevent pregnancy, especially shots or patches. The disadvantage is that you are not protected from STDs while on a method of birth controlĀ

Hormonal contraceptives are methods for preventing pregnancy based on synthetic forms of female hormones: estrogen and progesterone. Some of these methods combine the two hormones, while others only have progesterone. They can be taken, injected, inserted into the vagina, applied to the skin or implanted under the skin.

As positive points of this method, we can affirm that besides having a high efficiency in preventing a pregnancy, these methods reduce the risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer; decrease menstrual flow and may reduce menstrual cramps.

As negatives, these medications can promote weight gain, headache, sore breasts, irregular menstruation, mood swings, less sexual desire and nausea.
