Bram Stoker's fictional character Dracula was hematophagic, which means that his food source was blood. He shares this trait with three different kinds of Vampire Bats: the Common Vampire Bat, the Hairy-legged Vampire Bat, and the White-winged Vampire Bat. Most people fear the bat's blood-drinking tendencies; however, they should be more concerned with the fact that bats can carry rabies. Although only 0.5% of bats carry rabies, most cases of rabies reported in the United States every year are caused by bat bites. The risk is mostly to livestock, though, and not to humans. The writer of this passage implies that:

A.vampire bats are fictional.

B.hematophagic bats are rare but dangerous.

C.people’s fears are not always fact based.

D.if there were vampires, they would likely carry rabies.
